Oil leak and random nipple explanation

Featured Replies

Not sure where to post this, I had a small oil leak and after done clenaing and looking I traced it to this area, there appears to be a nipple that looks like a hose some connect to it but there isn’t and there’s nothing near that looks like it’s came off, only place near the leak that looks like the oil is coming from, I can find anywhere online what this is or what it’s for,

it’s underneath the air intake box and can be seen once that is removed, at the bottom of the photo

Hi,

Below the text box you should have an option to 'add files'.  That will allow you to attach the image.

That looks like the Bleed Nipple for the Clutch Slave Cylinder, if you trace the pipe next to it then it should take you to the Clutch Master Cylinder.

There should be nothing connected to it until you need to bleed the system.

Okay Thankyou, my other guess was that the oil filter it leaking into that area from directly above it as it’s due a service too, booked in next week

Ask the garage to check the plastic filter casing carefully when they do the service.  Mine had cracked which made a similar amount of mess.  Very easy to replace of course.  Think a new casing cost about £20 back in 2015.

The other possibility for a leak there is a crack in the metal turbo boost pipe just in front of that area.
