Constant noise when driving in gear

Featured Replies

Hi guys!

I have a 2014 MK7 Ford Fiesta with 72,000 miles and I am having problems figuring out what the issue is as I’ve taken to a few mechanics and they have all said different things.

The problem is when I am driving in gear it makes a noise, but If I accelerate or put the clutch down the noise disappears!

If anyone knows if this is a common problem for these cars at this mileage please respond!

I had a similar issue with my 2011 Fiesta. It turned out to be the driveshaft bearing. Not a big job. I did go for an aftermarket part as Ford was was too expensive. Hope this helps

Hopefully it’s not major but I’ve had mechanics telling me I need a new gearbox then some are saying flywheel and others are saying diff, thanks for the reply I appreciate it!

This sounds similar to what you might get when the clutch thrust bearing is wearing out. If you've had a new clutch but the bearing wasn't replaced, that might be it. Or if you use the clutch a lot or rest your foot on the clutch pedal.
