Focus mk2 clunk noise help (video!!)

Featured Replies

Guys, I have no idea where this is coming from. Somebody said they replaced the steering rack after they went for the flywheel, gearbox, etc. But I doubt it because the sound only came after I replaced the parts I listed in the description. Also today I replaced a tie rod end and the steering rack had no play in it at all. It's coming when the front end has load on it. If the car is risen with the wheels in air it's not there, same if I start reversing slowly but if it is to reverse while the car is downhill or I give it some clutch it clunks.

Snapped exhaust bracket or weak hangars maybe?

That's correct, the exhaust bracket right under the engine is snapped, but why doesn't it sound everytime then? This clicking sound only comes the first time I reverse. If I brake and reverse again it doesn't click.

And it's a double sound, coming from each wheel.

Physics.  Points of inertia etc.

No man, I can feel it in my steering wheel. Each click. I'm currently thinking I ordered a smaller size ball joints. Will check the next few days when I'm changing a CV boot.
