Ford focus mk3 with stop start battery change

Featured Replies

Just changed the battery and can't get the car to turn over

Didn't put a device on the car while swapping the battery

What do I need to try

There's nothing special about a battery change on a 2012 model (might have to re-enter radio code).

If it won't even turn over then firstly double check you have connected the battery the right way round. Mistakes can happen.

Next check that the battery clamps are making a good solid contact with the battery posts. Also check that the negative battery lead to the vehicle body is making a good contact and not rusted and coming loose.

Are the headlights working ?

Is the new battery fully charged ? They often need to be charged for 5 or 6 hours to get them up to full capacity.

If you have checked the above and still not turning over then disconnect the battery negative lead for 10 minutes before reconnecting. That will cause all modules to reboot.
