REPLACEMENT OF A 2014 FORD KA STUDIO BATTERY

Featured Replies

Hello.  I am a newbie with this club and i had bought a 2014 Ford KA Studio from new.  I have recently checked the battery output with a multimeter and found that the battery charge is down to approximately 11.98 volts.  My question is if the battery has to be replaced can you do this yourself?  I am aware that with some cars removing the positive and negative battery leads could result in losing the ECU programming.  Is this the case with the Ford ka studio and if so how do you replace the battery yourself without losing any programming?

Thank you for your help

There is no reason to lose any programming in the ECU just by removing and replacing the battery. The only things that you might need is the Radio Code, and you may have to reteach the electric windows 'One Touch' open and close (if your car has that function).

Always disconnect the Negative terminal of  the battery first, and reconnect the negative terminal last.

There is no programming or coding of the battery required. Just remember it is always best to fully charge a new battery for 12 hours to ensure it is in peak condition.

Hello Unofix.  Many thanks for the info and eternally grateful.  I was thinking of changing the battery myself sometime in the future to reduce any cost.  If by chance a driver has mislaid the radio code over the years is there an easy way to obtain it say through a website such as this?  Just as a matter of interest my sister has a Nissan Juke car.  Do you think the same might apply to that vehicle?

Many thanks for your help.

The Ford radio code can be obtained provided you have the serial number of the radio. Some will display the serial number (but not the code) on the display if you have the option to view 'info' Otherwise you will need to remove the radio from the dashboard and read the label on the back.

Yes you can safely replace the battery on a Nissan Juke with out any programming problems. Just remember to disconnect the negative lead first and always reconnect the negative last.
