Puma - Turbo Trouble

Featured Replies

A few months ago whilst doing roughly 30mph, exiting a roundabout, something went pop, the engine kind of stuttered and the dash flickered on and off 4/5 times.

Ever since then the engine hasn't sounded the same, I took it to ford and they said everything is normal.

When I hit around 2800rpm, more notably in 4th, 5th and 6th gear, the engine judders, once it hits 3000rpm it smooths out again.

The turbo used to flutter under hard-ish acceleration/deceleration and it was very clear to hear, now that doesn't happen or when it does, it's very faint. Engine sounds quite rough too.

After googling a bit I've come to the conclusion it could be the Recirculating Valve, either damaged or hose has popped off? Is this plausible? Under acceleration there is a whoosh sound, I have a pipercross panel filter in but the whoosh happens with the OEM filter too.

Does anyone know where the Recirculating Valve is located on a Ford Puma ST Line X 1.0 ecoboost? For that matter, Where's the turbo? 😀

If the symptoms sound like it could be something else, please let me know and where to look. I've looked around the engine without removing anything, checked hoses that are accessible but it all looks okay.

Everything is standard except for a pipercross panel filter.
