Transmission Service Required Ford Galaxy 2009

Featured Replies

Hi all

So, I have a Ford Galaxy 2009 2L TDCI Diesel. Car wasn't running for a while but just had a 2nd hand fuel pump fitted and car is now driving again(sort of). On my dashboard it is now giving me the engine check light and a message of Transmission Service Required. I have changed the Transmission fluid and tried to restart the ECU by draining the car power but the light is still there and after driving 100m or so the message comes back on. Car is driving but wont go up in the gears and sticks at 3000 RPM at around 40mph. Don't want to go any higher in-case I damage anything further. Any help or points or tricks I can do on the car to solve this problem? Obviously being a 4 day bank holiday weekend garages near me are shut and was desperately needing the car for the weekend.

Many thanks

You need to firstly get a laptop and download the software FORScan (its free). You will also need a good ELM327 lead to connect to the OBDII port.

Then you will be able to read the Ford specific DTC's and see what the fault is. It may just be a case of clearing all the old DTC's and then doing a re-teach of the TCM.

How do I do a re-teach of the TCM? Been driving it on private roads and as soon as it gets near 35mph there's a little jolt, loss of power and then won't go up in gears

Use FORScan, select TCM and select the options to reteach the gears/drum
