Telephone keeps randomly disconnecting. need new bluetooth module perhaps?

Featured Replies

Hi

I think from other posts that a new bluetooth module might help me.  I'm told it's a cheap and quick fix.

But can somebody tell me where I should be looking for it on my May 2013 Focus estate, please. It has the upgraded Sony radio and satnav, if that makes any difference. Is it above/behind the glovebox?

Thank you.

either behind glove box or radio

A 2013 Focus has the SYNC 1.0 system. The APIM (SYNC) module is located behind the climate control panel.

To gain access to the APIM module the audio system, climate control panel and gearstick surround panels need to be removed.

Thanks, JW.  So are you saying there's no separate Btooth module and I need a complete APIM, or is the BT module plugged into the APIM?  Apologies for my ignorance...

THere is no seperate Bluetooth module.

Bluetooth is an integral part of the APIM so in case of Bluetooth problems the APIM needs to be replaced.

Note that the SYNC 1.0 APIM was only used for one Year and Ford stopped all support in 2014 and since then the system became outdated. Do not be surprised if the Bluetooth problems are caused by compatibility issues between the phone and the outdated SYNC 1.0 system.

That's very helpful, thank you.  Looks like it's not such a quick or cheap fix as I thought, sadly!

I might just leave it and put up with it. It seems to disconnect when the phone is on standby rather than mid-call, so it's not the end of the world, but I thought I might be able to fix it for a £20 module and 30 minutes fitting.

consider hitting the scrappers for a syc 2 or 3 unit or a non ford unit if feasible
