Focus mk3 speaker wire polarity

Featured Replies

I'm looking to upgrade my front speakers with some aftermarket speakers. Both front speaker wires (neg and pos) are black but one has a white stripe on each end. Which one of them is the pos and neg?

Looking at the wiring diagram it comes out of the radio White and Brown for the + and just White for the - on the left speaker. White and Orange for the + and white and Violet for the - on the right speaker.

Helpfully (not) they look like they change colour to both just Black when they go through connection C25 which is the door hinge connection. It looks like they then split off for the tweeters which are colour coded, Yellow and Orange is the + for the left side and Grey and Orange is the + on the right side.

If you have a multimeter you could test for continuity between the mid speaker and the tweeter. This would identify which is which.
