MK8 Sync 3 Apple car play issues

Hello all,

This is my first post ! so hoping to find some advice/help!

I have a 2017 mk8 fiesta with the sync 3 system, for a few years of ownership the apple car play worked without issues,

however around 6 months ago it suddenly stopped working when I plug my Iphone in, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

It will still charge, however the apple car play software does not boot and the car wont recognise there's an iphone connected. I've tried resetting the software for the sync 3 system and also then tried installing the latest software available online. To no success unfortunately, I wasn't sure if its down to the fact that the cars an early model rolled of the line and therefore has issues that may not be around on the present cars ?

 

Hopefully somebodies had this issue, look forward to your replies !

    As per Alex’s suggestion above, try a genuine apple cable if you can get your hands on one, or one from a reputable brand such as Anker. Also check that the lightning port on your iPhone is clear of “pocket fluff” with a wooden cocktail stick or can of “air duster”.

    Did you find a solution?  My sync3 has never worked with the cable and CarPlay although it does charge the phone
