RETROFIT focus MK3.5 Steering wheel in Focus mk2 RS i need help om 75 % done

hi there i am retrofitting a steeringwheel from a ford focus mk3 .5 to the Rs mk2 no problem in that

BUT! i would like to use the buttons on the steeringwheel and i can OHM out the right side where the controls are for Radio, BUT the left side that normaly would control the display i would like to get the OHM reading but i cant! there is no reading on eny of the wires?

 

have you done this? pleace let me know.



Do you not need to change the 'clock spring' ?

If you have more buttons/controls than the original steering wheel then you may need a new clock spring.

Possibly @alexp999 might be able to advise on this.

The MK2/MK2.5 steering wheel control buttons are connected to a conventional clock spring. The steering wheel control is an analog resistance circuit that is directly connected to the instrument cluster.

The MK3/MK3.5 steering wheel control buttons are connected to the Steering Collumn Control Module (which is integrated into the clock spring). The SCCM communicates digitally by CANbus communication.


To make it work you need to modify the circuit board of the MK3.5 to match the circuit and resistance values of the MK2.5. This requires advanced soldering skills. A lot more info about this subject can be found on the Russian Ford forum.

well i have looking for a box that converts OHM signals because the signal is only a Ground and then there is the signal cable.

 

i have a clockspring from a C-max that came with cruisecontrol so there is more channels in the clockspring
