Fiesta 2017 Mk8 Dead Cluster No Crank intermittent fault

Featured Replies

Hello !

I have joined the forum in the hope that I might find some feedback or suggestions about an intermittent fault on my Fiesta Mk8 2017 reg, 1.0 EcoBoost...

Occasionally in the morning when I turn the key, the dashboard cluster stays completely blank and engine doesnt crank when I turn the key. The battery is OK ! Fuses are OK. I tried disconnecting reconnecting battery - same issue. If I return to the car several hours later it usually starts - seems related to being outside overnight in cold / wet weather. I've checked harness connections in various places such as A-pillar and under glovebox.

I took it to TC HARRISON who plugged in a "spare" dash cluster and it started - so they claimed it was the cluster at fault and charged me £700 for a new one. For the 1 week they had my car they didnt supply a courtesy car - I had to hire one for £150 !

Since then it happened again and I was stranded in Oxford - I paid £280 to have me and the car transported home (85 miles away). Upon arrival at home the car started OK !!

I complained to TCHARRISON saying that it obviously isnt the dash cluster and expect a refund - but they claim it COULD BE the cluster as well as ANOTHER issue and are not forthcoming with any further help.

They said they'd exhausted all options and what else do I expect them to do ?  !!

I have since discovered that I can disconnect the cluster and the car still starts !! - so it obviously isnt the cluster causing the fault !

I Am VERY annoyed at the lack of help from TC HARRISON (Stamford Branch) - its now cost me over £1000 and I am no further forward and never know if the car will start in the morning !

I am searching the web for any advice or anyone who may have experienced similar ?

This is starting to feel like a can-bus signal problem but I am at a loss as to where to look or turn next - I am thinking of trying the FORSCAN software and laptop to see if that can shed any light...

ANY help or advice would be gratefully accepted - please.

Many thanks.

Steve
