Fuel Gauge

Featured Replies

Hi all! I’m new to the forum and need some advice. I’ve recently purchased a 2010 Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.2. When I got the car it was registering a quarter of a tank of petrol but only 50 miles on the led, I put £20 worth in which put the gauge up to half a tank but only ready 100 miles on the led. Spoken to a few people and they’re saying it doesn’t seem right. Can anyone help?

Well if a quarter reads 50 miles, then a half reading 100 miles sounds like a reasonable calculation.

The range reading is just an estimate based on previous driving styles etc.  If you've just bought the car, the battery may have gone flat and lost previous driving data, or the previous owner may have only driven around town.

Best advice I can offer for now is to reset the MPG and range readings, then drive for a week or two and see what they're showing after that.

Thank you. I’ve reset the trip so I’ll see how I get on. First car so maybe I’m just nit picking lol
