I have recently picked up a second hand Chinese touch screen  radio for my focus, it came from a mondeo. They guy said its also for a focus. Considering its the exact shape and fits the car like a glove I thought nothing of it. However when I connected everything up I was greeted with a white screen. After a few seconds the display came up as it should however after about 2 minutes lines appred in the screen and then the screen glitches out. The touch screen still works and sound still comes out. When I looked at the diagrams for both cars both claim to have an acc wire that isn't present in the loom of the radio. 

 

Is this a wiring problem or a faulty radio?

From what you describe I'd say there's a 90% plus chance that the radio unit is faulty.

The 'Acc' wire is not generally needed for the radio these days as the Canbus system tells the radio when the ignition is on. The fact the radio comes on would suggest that it is receiving the canbus signal ok.

Lines on the screen is usually a good indication that the TFT screen is faulty.

Anyone one considering a chinese "android" unit try to get the biggest RAM, ROM you can afford and i'd definately recommend NOT buying secondhand. They look good in the blurb but sadly usually fail to perform.

Tft screen a easy fix or is it more productive to buy a new radio? 

It will cost more to buy just one screen - even assuming you could find the correct one - than it would to buy a complete new radio.

Can you get your money back and put towards something guaranteed to work ?
