Weird Air Con Noise.

Featured Replies

Hey everyone.   New here.

I have a ford fiesta 64 with around 75000 miles on it.   I never have the AC on, because I just don't like the blowers on my face feeling.   And it's just too loud.

Anyway, today I HAD to have the AC on as it was 40°C.   I was putting up with it, but as I was slowing down to pull into my drive, I heard a kind of "Woooooo" sound.   At first I thought it was my clutch, as it stopped as soon as I lifted off to drive into my drive. But, it seems to happen randomly on and off. And turned off dead if the AC was switched off.   I can't really describe the sound other than an owl or maybe a werewolf.

I don't know A/C sounds well enough to know if it's normal or not.   Or do I need to go to the garage with it (again - this car is starting to take the mick).

Cheers!

Hmm maybe.    It literally only started making the noise within the last 2 minutes of around half an hour use (with a 15 minute gap halfway through).   Maybe it made it before then but I didn't notice.

For future reference, you NEED to run your A/C for a while every month to keep it all working and lubricated. If you don't like it, 'in your face', redirect your air vents for a bit. You can also put the blower speed at minimum, you'll never notice it. Also, it's great in winter too as it will dehumidify the air in the car so that the inside of your windows don't steam up. People often mistake A/C as a temperature device - it isn't. It 'conditions' the air in your car...

My own A/C hasn't been turned off since I bought the car, as has every other car I've ever had.
