ESP Light- and code P0238

Featured Replies

Hello there,

I have a 2010 Galaxy 2.0 TDCI with 126000 on it.

I have had just over 2 years now after buying it privately and overall, i am very pleased with it- it's still smooth, reasonably pokey and economical ( 47.7 long-term indicated).

The issue i have, that under load- so heavy acceleration in 4/5/6th it will more often than not put the ESP light on- if i lift off straight away it may disappear but, normally it then stays on until i switch on and off again. It will sometimes throw the engine light on as well if i accelerate hard a few times  but, it never goes into limp mode and carries on driving normally.

Checking the codes with ForScan, i get P0238 ( Turbo/Super Charger Boost Sensor A Circuit High), plus the common ABS Code U0401:68-48 and IPC U0416:68-28., which i understand are communication issues with the modules.

On the engine side of things, its had new Ford Map sensor, the throttle body cleaned out, new Turbo Boost Vacuum Sensor,  Revive Turbo cleaner through the intake, and last week, a smoke test to check for boost leaks, and what was found is one of the previous owners, had fitted an EGR blank plate and snapped a stud reattaching the EGR pipe , so the plate was removed and new stud put in, but unfortunately, the light still comes on, with the same code.

I don't really want to go on spending on "parts Darts" and labour costs but, i think perhaps it means the ABS unit may be causing the issues or perhaps some dodgy wiring somewhere?

It doesn't bother me really because as i said, does not affect the drive but i am probably looking to sell late this year or early next and i would like to sell privately and wouldn't want to sell it knowing that light/s and code will pop on again. Dont want to WBAC or similar it, as i am looking at about £1000 less , which i wouldn't mind if it was an old basket case but, it really is in great condition and has more receipts( from new) and history than many cars worth 5 times as much!

There must be someone out there who had the same issues, hence hoping for some help!

Thanks
Matt.

Hi Matt, I have just purchased a Ford Galaxy with the same issues. Did you ever find out what was wrong with it.

Thanks

Post details of your exact problem. The thread above is a bit all over the place.

If you have a problem with the turbo @TomsFocus is the guy who will be able to point you in the right direction.
