Ford focus zetec 1.6 2011 diesel wont start

Featured Replies

Been cranking no problem, recently is has been cranking longer before it starts once it starts it runs and drive fine. I drove it home from work and the next day it wouldn't start. It cranks but won't fire. Car doesn't show any codes or indicate any problems, checked the fuel pump relay and the pump they seem to be working fine.

Had a small tear in the turbo hose witch I have repaired but still nothing

Any ideas

I'm going to assume (very dangerous, I know) that you are using a Generic Code reader.

You need to use the software FORScan and the new 'vLinker FS' cable to be able to get the Ford specific DTC's

The problem could be one of many. It might be fuel pressure, or a problem with the crankshaft position sensor.

FORScan (free for windows laptops) : https://forscan.org/download.html

vLinker FS cable : https://www.obd2shop.co.uk/wholesale/vgate-vlinker-fs-elm327-for-ford.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwjIKYBhC6ARIsAGEds-JaASCXZjQ4h2HEuScVZQRh7g1CFlMcdgS_l0rMlHUr-B8tLntMzEAaAjT2EALw_wcB

Update, I managed to bump start the car yesterday, eventhough the battery is fine been tested and fully charged, the car started after my 3rd attempt at bumping it. The first two times it went to start but juttered, but fired up and was working as it should after the 3rd. I was able to use the car as normal though out the day starting first time off the key every time. However I went back to the car this morning and it wouldn't start again

If your using a generic code reader then it's fairly normal that they won't show Ford specific DTC's.

Yes using a standard scanner, my mate works for days and is able to plug his in after work tommrow. However after getting the car started from bumping it, the car went into limp mode. A bit of research lead me to a video of a another focus with similar systems. The video suggested there maybe a fault with the fuel filter. So I went and got a new one and fitted it, the car is now out of limp mode and is running better than I can remember. Alough the real test is of it starts in the morning.
