Sync 4 modem connect Hotspot

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it's possible to keep the connected modem hotspot on after ignition off on Ford Focus Sync 4?  My dashcam connects to the modem for remote live view, but as soon as the car ignition turns off it loses the hotspot connection.

Apologies if there is already a thread for this, that I haven't found yet.

Given the rate at which modern cars seem to eat battery power in just the shut-down mode I would expect that the option to keep even more equipment on while the ignition is not on would probably not be something that would be allowed.

Have you tried just pressing the power button for the radio/sync system while the ignition is off ?

That should turn the sync system on and it might just possibly turn your camera on, but even if it does the drain on your car battery will be quite high.

Thank you for your response, I get what you are saying. I might try using an old smart phone dedicated as a hotspot only and is recharged when the car is running.

You could try a simple split charge relay setup used in motorhomes. Huge choice battery sizes. You could run a small sim card router

Yes, thank you. I have started looking into both those options. It's just a bit frustrating when you already have a modem with hotspot, but can't utilise its full potential.
