There's no fluid in that mount, it's just a conventional solid mount.  I'm not sure if that was an option for some models (eg vans where comfort isn't a major consideration), or whether it's just a cheap way of producing an aftermarket mount.

The 'hydraulic' action on the standard mounts reduces vibration compared to solid mounts.

Hmm, now that is interesting! 🤔  Did you contact Ford for a price on the original?

That's a shame.  I've just checked my spreadsheet, genuine hydro mount for the 1.6 TDCI was only £59 back in 2016.

Not sure what to suggest really.  I would expect a noticeable difference in cabin vibration with a solid mount.  You could try a used mount, but obviously there's no telling how much longer that one might last if it's around the same age.  I did swap mine from the Mk2 to the Mk3 (wanted to get my moneys worth!) so they can be easily moved between cars without damage.

Was it a solid mount instead of a hydro mount?

As I said before, I bought the OEM one myself as I didn't expect the aftermarkets to be up to the same quality.  I definitely wouldn't have swapped a hydro for a solid either.

Yes it was a solid mount I thought the car was going to shake to death I have managed to arrange a refund for the mount and yesterday I put the old OE one back on that was on originally and the noise has stopped obviously there is a little rip in the rubber do you think it is ok to just keep that on

Won't do any immediate damage keeping the broken one but it will keep getting worse.  If keeping the car long term you will have to change it eventually.
