ST-Line X - 2018 - dropping down to 17" ST-Line wheels

Featured Replies

You should also keep in mind that Focuses on 18" wheels have a steering rack limiter, so remember to remove it if you downgrade to 17" wheels.

It will benefit your turning circle as well!

No rack limiter on the mk4 afaik.

Turning circle even on the ST with 19” is so much better than the mk3 because they engineered the car not to need the limiters.

I have not seen it with my own eyes, but it was mentioned clearly at the configurator. I have also seen it at the Ford parts and accessories. It was the main reason I did not order the car with 18" wheels. You see my garage needs some tough manoeuvering..

As for the turning circle, being an owner of a mk3.5 for 6 years, I would say that it is a bit worse on the mk4, or at least the same.

I owned a mk 3.5 ST on 18" for 3 years and the turning circle was abysmal, the mk4 ST on 19" is significantly better. As good as my earlier mk3 titanium on 17".

Thanks everyone for your input.

As a data point, you might be interested in the fact that before Christmas I drove the car from Westbury in Wiltshire to Berlin in Germany and back. On the return journey of 800 miles, done in one 13 hour stint, my wife sat in the back and made no complaints about ride comfort or noise, on the largely motorway journey - even including a 139mph blast over a section of Autobahn.

Maybe my concerns are overstated and I've wasted everyone's time (ducks) 🙄
