Ford App and Sync 4. Focus ST MK 4.5

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I’ve had a Focus ST MK4.5 for a month now, everything has been great up until a week ago when the Ford Pass App has stopped communicating with my car.

I have reset the App on my phone as suggested; removed my car etc, but now I can’t even set it back up again as I never see the prompt appear on my Sync 4 system in order to activate it.

Another suggestion has been to go into Settings - Connectivity - Connectivity settings on Sync 4 and toggle this on and off, but connectivity settings never brings anything up. It says please wait and then just returns to the connections menu again.

What is really confusing me is that I can’t even perform a master reset of Sync. The options to reset Ford connect or reset sync 4 are greyed out - so I can’t even do that step.

Obviously it’s still under warranty and such, so I have linked in with my dealership - but I was wondering if anyone has had similar and if there is anything I could check? I’m assuming it’s the TCU unit or similar at fault here.

Cheers

The only way to master reset Sync 4 is through your app as or web as it requires 2 stage approval.

Have you deleted the app, then re-downloaded it and tried again to set it up?
does the App or even the Ford Website if you log in still say it’s connected?

to login via the web, just go to www.ford.do.uk and in the top right there is a little figure inside a circle.

You will need your username and password to log in, but it will show if the car is still connected etc.

you can the go in to safety and security and stolen vehicle. In there you chose Master Reset which sends a command to the car to unlock the menu.

the reason for now doing it this way I believe it’s to prevent people resetting the car if stolen etc I think.

if this doesn’t help, then it’s possible that the car still thinks the app is somewhat connected.  Possible a dealer will have to resolve this.

hope it does work. Good luck and let us know how u get on

Hi @Sclarke85 I have the exact same issue on my 2023 focus st line X. The same things are happening to me and only after a week of having the car. Was fine until midday Saturday and then went exactly as you have described.

Did you ever get this resolved?
