Ford Fiesta MK8 Cluster

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, i want to change my Fiesta's cluster  , because i have the b/w version.

i was thinking about getting the color version , that comes with some models but the thing is that i dont know the part's code or how to recognize if it's colour or b/w version.

is there any way to recognize the difference? or anyone knows what's the code that the coloured version uses?

Thanks in Advance.

You'll need a £159 colour licence for that 🤣

Just my opinion I had the B&W version on my 18 st-line, now have the colour St-line-x and tbh you don’t even really notice the colour. Most menus/options are in B&W anyway.

The only really plus of the colour is the traffic sign recognition but I presume you don’t have that if you have B&W, and even if you enable it with a Bx camera and Forscan it still works fine in B&W.

I wouldn’t bother tbh..

@unofix what do you mean mate? i dont understand.

@Smartd00d , i see. well mostly its a matter of how it looks. and the fact that i can enable a few more aesthetic options on it , than the b&w version.

Not if you don't have the rest of the hardware to suit

Unofix’s comment about licence cost was a joke about the cost of a colour tv licence compared to black and white tv licence, I guess you have to be over a certain age.

Sorry I just realised you don't live in the UK

Here in the UK we have to have a licence to watch TV as it is being broadcast (Live TV).

For an old Black and White TV it is £53.50 each year and Colour TV is £159.00

Maybe the UK government should introduce a colour licence for car instrument clusters, just think of all the  extra tax they could collect 👍

Your humour doesn't allways translate. .sorry, typo error. Auto correct inserted allways. 🤣🤣

Can anyone still watch an old black and white tv on live transmission? 405 lines vhf ? 625 lines uhf?  Perhaps tv is still transmitted in a suitable format, I’m not sure these days.

Nope. UK TV is only broadcast digitally now. Some old digital set top boxes left over from around the analogue switch-off may have an analogue UHF 625 line output to feed the aerial socket of an analogue TV but I guess they are few and far between now.

Since the changeover to Digital transmissions, and since as far as I know no manufacture has ever produced a B&W digital TV why does the B&W licence still exists ?

It's been a couple years since I have seen the numbers, but I seem to remember it was around 150,000 B&W licenses. How and what are people using to receive digital signal and view it in black and white ?

It's around 6500 B&W licences this year.

I suspect many of those are deceased direct debits or simply lying about which type of TV they have.

Would that be a little white lie ?
