Fault codes

Featured Replies

Hi All , I have one of those early keyless entry Ford Focus 2006 plate and I have issues where the small green display may not go to sleep hence running the battery flat in the morning. I have used forscan on the car and reset modules but the B faults keep coming back. The car runs fine but just not always going to sleep, any ideas please!

Looks like you have a problem with the soldering of the instrument cluster. I think

@DaveT70 has seen this type of problem before, maybe he can confirm the possible issue.

HI DaveT70,I Have had the the instrument cluster out and re soldered a lot of joints but still have the same problem. I have gone through this thoroughly and I am coming to the conclusion of corrupt software so what's your idea of this or do you think another look at the cluster?

I don’t think this is characteristic of the solder joint issue in the cluster, not to say there isn’t an issue with the cluster. My son’s 2006 St had an issue with the plug contacts into the abs module but your main issue is the display being kept alive.

first thing to check is to have no accessories plugged in and not to leave any Bluetooth accessories live.

As far as I can assertain, most of the B codes relate to engine related components and unless they are not shutting down, unlikely to be the problem.

one common issue to check is the connecting plugs to the BCM/fuse box behind the glove box. Known to sometimes suffer from damp corrosion.

Can you turn off the keyless entry and see if the display shuts down?

Thanks guys, I have used Forscan this afternoon and reset a few modules, and like before the car goes to sleep and this generally works for a day or so then reverts back to not going to sleep. I will look into turning off the keyless when the old girl starts playing up again. Picture relates to forscan testing and resetting modules this afternoon.
