Speed recognition symbol Mk4

Featured Replies

Roads signs are detected ok and appear on the dash showing speed limit. There is space at the side for another symbol but nothing appears here, is that controlled by an optional extra I don't have perhaps or just a menu setting?

It is indeed  controlled by an option you don't have. There are two things to consider (a) do your really want it when you find out what it is? (b) The option can most probably be enabled on your model using FORScan.

So what is it ?

The only use it seems to have in the UK (maybe there are other uses but I've not heard what they are) is it will display the "No Overtaking" sign if you should happen to pass one.

However, in the UK we don't have an "End of No Overtaking" sign which means once it is displayed on your instrument cluster you are stuck with it. Eventually after many, many miles it sometimes will cancel by itself, otherwise you just live with it until you switch the car off.

Perhaps. Or you just haven't passed a no overtaking sign.

I used to have the extra sign on a previous car, and unfortunately my journey to work each morning used to take me past a 'No Overtaking' sign about 1 mile from my house. Then for about the next 6 miles I was stuck with it even though the double white lines had only lasted about 500 yards. So when the car I have now didn't have the annoying feature I was in a way quite pleased 😀

My Mk3 displays the no overtaking sign when it sees one, but also when it sees a "no horse drawn vehicles sign" which I pass regularly on entering a nearby dual carriageway.

But why the speed limit display disappears from the display after a mile or so is beyond me (and my Ford dealer).....   Surely the speed limit still applies until it is replaced by another speed limit sign.

Configuration issue, I've noticed a few like this, the second circle is for traffic sign recognition (part of the driver's assistance pack)

Tried to reply asking what's in driver assistance pack but got message 'thanks for your report' lol. Not sure what happened there, never seen that before

Adaptive cruise control (with Stop & Go on 8 Speed auto only)

Lane centring assist (8 Speed Auto only)

Road sign recognition

Speed sign recognition with camera (over and above GPS as standard)

Driver Alert

Auto High Beam

One way alert (now deleted)

I need to drive past a no overtaking sign to test then, as I guess ours has Driver Assist.

I'm sure mine works with the hazard information and shows a road work sign.

If it does, then please post a photo 👍 As I said above I've never known it to show anything but the No Overtaking.

Can't remember the last time I saw a no overtaking sign TBH

From what I remember, once LHI became selectable in the menu on the infotainment screen, that's when I started seeing the roadwork sign next to the speed limit sign.
