56 Plate, 2006 Focus - Central Locking / Boot lock / Fuel Cap Lock

Featured Replies

So. my 17yr old son has the above. Key will only now lock drivers door, all others stay unlocked, aprt form boot (which is locked) and fuel cap (which is locked).

Does not have REMOTE central locking, so all done via door itself.

Quick Google showed possible fuse replacement needed ( fuse no. 77 I believe), but this has not resolved issue. Please help as he is using it to supplement his learning to drive ! lol

On a 56 plate (2006) Focus the problem could well be the ingress of water in to the GEM/BCM which is part of the passenger compartment fuse box.

Disconnect the negative lead from the battery before investigating.

Remove all connectors from the GEM and check for signs of water and/or corrosion of the connector pins. The other common problem is the solder joints on the back of the instrument cluster, but although possible, I would think unlikely unless you start to develop other random faults.

Get yourself a laptop and download FORScan (it's free for laptop use), and a ELM327(modified) connection cable. then you will be able to check for any DTC's that are logged which will help in fault finding.

ELM327(modified): https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/USB_Modified_with_switch_ELM327/p4541936_17045457.aspx

Seems this may be an option, with the ForScan app on Android ?

Not an option to change settings with Android or iPhone device for safety reasons.

programming changes can only be made using a hard wired device (laptop).

That ELM device is not compatible with FORScan.

Use vLinker FD for bluetooth (supports FORScan) connectivity to an android device:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/vLinker-FD-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Scanner/dp/B0BLJM5QJH/ref=sr_1_5?crid=30LQB3VFLQ1WH&keywords=vlinker%2Bfd&qid=1674770167&sprefix=vlinker%2Bfd%2Caps%2C286&sr=8-5&th=1

Please note that this will still not allow programming, it is for reading DTC's and resetting sevice indicators eg. Oil Life

A slight correction @unofix. That Adaptor is the FD+, which is the one you need for IOS phones because it is a Bluetooth Lite one.

The FD Adaptor is a normal Bluetooth one that is compatible with Android and is cheaper, so there is no advantage in buying the FD+ one, which will still work with Android but may be slower.

The other thing about Bluetooth Adaptors is that you can use them on Windows computers if you want the larger graph functions or Output Control Mode, but I'm not sure if the Bluetooth Lite one (FD+) works with Windows or not. I know that my normal Bluetooth one does.
