Mk4 Check Adaptive Headlamps

Featured Replies

The dreaded “Check Adaptive Headlamps- See Manual” warning appeared this morning. Had a poke around with Forscan and I’m really hoping it’s not going to be a new headlamp 🤨

You'll need proper FORScan for that BTW, not mobile👍

It may be related to the Low Battery Voltage DTC, that may have occurred at the same time and was not currently present when you did that scan, just like the other DTC's.

Incidentally, I have never checked if Headlight Control Modules are different to all the other Modules, but you can do Module Resets with FORScan Lite. If you know differently @DaveT70I'd be Interested in what other ones FORScan Lite can't do, if any.

Cheers John, I had a look at the Service procedures in Forscan Lite and all modules seem to be available.

I’m hoping it was just a low battery that’s caused this after two weeks of short journeys with lights and heating etc on.

I’ve cleared the DTCs and had it on the charger today and haven’t had the message since.

If it reappears I’ll reset the module and take it from there.

Thanks to you and @DaveT70 for your help 😊

I forgot to say that there is often Freeze Frame date for errors and most of the time there is either a date, time (since the car was new I think) or a mileage. Sometimes the dates say a default date in the future but you can usually work timings out from the mileage and it should tell you whether the car was being driven at the time.

If all the faults happened at the same time then it is likely to be a Voltage problem. I have had a low Battery due to lack of use and never had any errors.

You can Live Monitor Voltage at the BCM, (and Individually some other Modules), plus Net Charging Current and State of Charge. If you do have further problems and the Battery and Charging System look ok, then it might be worth seeing what PID's are available in the HCM and do some live monitoring, especially if any Freeze Frame Data says that the problems occurred while the car was being driven rather than sitting off.
