Mk4 Battery Recommendation

Hi together, I am searching the battery for my mk4 1.0 125hp. My OEM battery is FORD VARTA EFB 70Ah 700A SAE/EN H6. I am thinking to buy : VARTA N70 EFB 70AH 760A 12V 570500076 (found it as recommended on VARTA site). Is it good idea?

YBX7096 is usually the recommendation here.

Thanks! sorry, I am a novice. YBX 7096 seems also okay, but why it would be better solution (in comparison with Varta N70)? And if I will decide to buy YBX7096  - so I need only change it and make manual reset of BMS? Or do I need to make some settings in garage?

Halfords fitted a Yuasa EFB096 to my mark 4. ( even though the web says not suitable!) and what an improvement after having two Varta batteries from Ford in two years.

It seems to be more robust. As used in my Focus Mk4 diesel 2.0, it provides more stable power at starting than many other brands of battery.

I'm guessing this is also suitable for Focus St MK4 2.3 petrol? Mines over 4 year old now and wanting to replace it.

Yes it fits the battery tray of all Mk4 Focus

Once changed, do you need to do a BMS reset? I'm looking to order the battery online and trying to get a local garage to fit it as I don't want to mess about doing it myself even though it looks easy enough.

If you own a 10mm spanner and know how to operate it then it should take less than 20 minutes to change the battery.

I'm not sure i do, I'm not into tools lol. To be fair I do have an adjustable spanner, but it's pretty big.

Is it actually easy? One video I watched mentioned having to remove the air filter to access the battery properly.

Yes the air box just has to be unclipped and pulled out, not a major event. It's been awhile since I did mine but you might need a screwdriver to loosen the clamp on the air hose

Before fitting your new battery, or giving it to your garage to fit, charge it to 100%. Then after fitting reset the BMS.

In my case removing the airbox took quite some time. Once issue I got was removing the MAF sensor wire which is clipped to the airbox, and I could not get it uncliped.

I didn't have to remove any sensors.

Could be I went too far in removal of parts, and it could have been done easier.

Too late, a local garage to me are supplying and fitting for £135. Not a bad price really.
