Self levelling headlights Mk3 Ford Focus Titanium

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

RE: Mk3 - 2012 Ford Focus Titanium X Estate

I just wondered if anyone knew if the self levelling headlight system can be height adjusted manually. I ask because my lights on low beam don't seem to reach out far enough down the road. The self levelling system works Ok when you start up and auto adjusts but when driving on really dark roads they don't seem to project as far as needed. They are bright and the headlight width is OK its just the distance could do with being more.

Full beam is perfect but when I'm on busy unlighted roads at night with regular oncoming vehicles forcing me to swap from full beam to low beam I really start to have issues. I think it is only the dip beam which is self levelling (not sure 100%) so I wondered if there is some form of adjuster that can be used to bring the height or distance of the low beam so it spreads more down the road.

I have OEM Xenon bulbs fitted and they are white and bright. I have currently changed my job and it involves more country road driving at night than before so I really notice the difference.

If anyone has any ideals or knowledge on this matter I would much appreciate it. TIA

Not sure where they’d be located but your headlamps will still have manual adjusting screws for setting the beam height etc, Google or YouTube should show you where they are and which one to adjust

i adjusted mine.  open bonnet and look downat the back of the headlamps .you will see a whitey creamy coloured plug about 20 mm diameter with a hexagonal shaped indent to put a allen key or fat blade screwdriver in. the turn it.  cant remember which way raises or lowers but not hard to work it out iff you have lights on in dark against a wall or something
