Heya, i have acquiered a 2013 1.0 ecoboost from my brother - and yes it has a few issues!

 

I think the ECU is broken; when the battery is plugged in the rear wiper starts, and ofc the key turn does nothing. Being until recently a citroen chap, whats the best place to start ? Am located in Eastbourne/ Sussex.

So some experimentation ; hooking up all the sensors, plugs etc, the car turns over but doesn`t fire up? Any suggestions?

Just thought I'd say it's nice to see a local member, I'm Newhaven also with a 2013 ecoboost 1.0 but can't offer any suggestions sorry

Maybe needs a new ECU as you suspect.

I expect someone will be along soon and say you should use the OBD to look for some info. which would make sense to me (although I'm no expert).

Sounds like water ingress in the BCM (fusebox under glovebox)

Check that first, I'm sure these were covered on a recall

If i can source an ecu from ebay, i assume it`ll need coding? Is there any companies / people relatively local to me that can do it, or an online company that can?

You can do it yourself with a Windows laptop, FORScan software and a vLinker FS connecting cable.

So a  little update!

Only fault was MAF sensor from 3 years ago (was running in that time) cleared it. Have changed ecu (the original was a bit crusty!), it ran , quite lumpy for about 4 seconds and now wont run but turns over and tries to start. It had new cam sensors / throttle sensor and low pressure fuel sensor already.
