Ford Focus MK1 Sedan Double Din Radio Install wont fit

Hello,

Today I tried to install a double din pioneer unit into my vehicle. I bought the Metra kit that is suposed to fit in the 1999-2004 mk1 ford focus. I have removed the plastic parts on the frame on the top and bottom and the unit fits into the gap. I also removed this plastic piece:

However, the metra kit won't really fit on the radio. What can I do about it? I am also not sure if it will fit at all, or how the radio is ever suposed to come out (if i manage to install it with the metra kit). Any input, help or tips would be appreciated.

Please see the extra images below!

The Metra kit isn't big enough for a double DIN radio cage.  You have to fit using the brackets in the kit.

I'm not understanding the dash fitment issue though.  It looks like it fits ok in the pictures?
