Ford Focus Mk2 Bonnet Lock Clip

Featured Replies

So after replacing my bonnet lock last year the replacement has now failed, I intend to put the original back on but with a long plastic lock. Just wondered if anyone has used one of these before and has it failed on you?

Ebay upgraded cable clip

The new clip is longer than the original so should stop the issue reoccurring.

I have looked at the guide and some videos of replacing the bonnet lock with one from a mondeo and having the release in the car but I have decided on this fix first to see how long it lasts as I would like to keep as much as standard as possible

What are your guys thoughts?

I used one when I replaced the whole assembly on my Mk2.5 in lieu of the one supplied and had no problems. It does seem like a better Idea. I believe the original one is designed to fall out as an anti theft measure.

Are you sure that part falling out is why it has failed again, I have heard that some aftermarket assemblies do not last very long.

I have had 3 x failures on the bonnet locking mechanism. The original Ford one, and 2 x consecutive 'Ebay' ones. Now on 4th, got from a breaker which is a genuine Ford one again. The 2 x failed ones both had the extended white clip fitted to them, but failed because they are generally cr*p!
