Morning folks, debating fitting a cone filter on my gutless 1.6, i know it wont negligably increase performance but will make a little more noise, as not lookig to mod the exhaust "yet". Remember i'm an idiot so keep it simple can i just remove the filter box and bang a cone on.

It’s more likely to decrease performance tbh.

Yes.  There's not even a MAF to worry about on your engine.  You will need some sort of bracket to secure the cone.

I hear Mr Whippy does a good range of cones but try not to get any ice cream in the inlet manifold though 😉

You should at least look at a nice chrome K&N housing, it won't improve performance, but at least it will look nice, and in my youth, they use to give out a free keyring LOL!

thanks for the replies guys, both informative and in jest, if the engine has mayonaise in it will ice cream not go along with it or does it depend on flavour

i bouhgt my car with the cone air filter, its made a difference to the sound as in whoooooosh sound lol

That looks awfully like a Blitz induction kit I fitted to a previous car - wonderful noise!

i agree, the noise is great! not like the other k+n that makes your car louder. its hard to explain the noise it makes.

ok so now weve got it to suck louder, would a backbox delete be legal so it blows louder.

Am living my second childhood with this car, doing everything i wanted to do years ago but wasnt allowed haha

TBF am not looking for an increase in performance more around noise. Couple of horses aint gonna make much difference on an automatic.
