Car won't start after stopping for fuel

Featured Replies

And no, I didn't use the wrong fuel!

I have 16 plate Ecoboost Titanium X. Just fuelled it, went back to my car and it won't start. Dash lights up and it clicks but everything has reset (clock, trip computer etc). Been sitting waiting for RAC for 2 hours and they're not due for another 3-4. Just tried it again as I was bored, now it says fuel is too low.

Any ideas? Does this sound like a battery issue or something else?

I only bought it a month ago from an independent garage, I do have a 3 month warranty but obviously that doesn't help me right now!

Turn the headlights on. Are they nice and bright ?

If dull then your battery is flat.

It might be possible to jump start it but if the battery is actually faulty that possibly won't work.

it`s the battery i think you`ll find 🤕

At least if it is the battery, the RAC guy should get you back on the road quickly. Though, as you're in a petrol station, any chance you can get a jump start from anyone?

EDIT

Just realised this was 16 hours ago LOL Did you get sorted, and was it the battery?

Yes 16 hours ago and I replied within 8 minutes of the original post and zero response from the OP. It can't have been that much of a problem after all 🙄

Sorry for not responding straightaway. I was stuck in a dead car and my phone battery died not long after so I didn't get chance to come back and see any of the responses!  I got home really late and quite honestly, had a large glass of wine and went to bed.

RAC came after 4 hours and it was indeed the battery, it failed all the tests. He checked the alternator too but that was fine and it was just the battery had given up. It was the original battery that came with the car in 2016 so I guess to be expected. He got me back on the road and I've had a new battery put in today, so hopefully that will see me right for a few years.

Would have been nice to have had a bit of warning before the battery just went pop but these things happen I suppose.
