Hi all am new member have just bought a focus ghia 1.6 2004  runs really well,only problem being fuel low light comes on when gauge shows it is a quarter full not knowing a lot about focus as this is my first one any help would be appreciated.

Not really a problem if the light goes out when the fuel level is above quarter full.

That was a common problem with these when new.

My advice would be, don't trust the gauge.

Put a gallon of fuel in the boot and when the warning light comes on see how many miles you do until it runs out

I'm not sure I'd want to deliberately run out of fuel. It will almost certainly happen in an inconvenient or hazardous location. There's also the possible problem of drawing sediment through the system.

I'd suggest if you know the tank capacity just fill it to the brim when the gauge shows a quarter full and see how much fuel it takes. Then you'll have a fair idea of the accuracy of the gauge.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll fill a container then run it till it's nearly on the empty and see how many miles I get.
