Clinking noises from the rear right (wheel?!)

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I've started to experience strange clinking noises from the rear when going on bumpy roads. It sounds like it comes from the right side. It is almost like metal hitting metal.

I changed the sway bar links but the noises haven't ceased. Any ideas what could make that noise? Maybe signs of a failing strut?

are the springs ok ?

Is there a way to tell if springs are not OK? If I push the car down with my own weight it doesn't give that sound. Only when the road is shaking it.

Btw it looks OK to me. I mean as a 16 year old spring could look. (hehe)

i only mentioned it as i had to have a rear spring replaced for the MOT, my music is generally that loud i cant hear anything LOL check the tyres make sure theres not something in them, i had a ticking at the front found out it was a screw

Loose exhaust heat shield?

That would explain why the sound comes sometimes the middle. I’ll check that today. Thanks Tom!

Have heard of spoiler securing bolts dropping out and falling down in the tailgate. They then can roll across the vehicle behind the trim. Worth checking.
