Travelpilot FX play music from USB stick

Featured Replies

Hi, I recently purchased a 2011 Focus MK2.5 with the Travelpilot FX stereo fitted.

I can play MP3 music files from an inserted SD card, but when I put the same music files on a USB stick and insert it in the USB port located inside the armrest the stereo shows USB format not supported.

Both the SD card and USB stick are formatted in Fat32 and all files are located on the root directory of the devices so I’m a bit puzzled why the music only plays from the SD card and is not recognised on the USB stick.

Does anyone know how to play MP3 files from the USB port? The reason I would prefer to have the music on the USB is so I can leave the Sat Nav SD card in the stereo instead of having to keep switching it out with the SD card with MP3’s on.

Cheers

Depends on the size of the USB pen drive. It may only support 16Gb or if you're very lucky 32Gb

Find attached the operating manual for the Travelpilot FX should you need a copy.

Cheers for posting the manual.

The USB stick I’m using is 8GB, I did wonder if that was the issue and was going to try a 4GB one (same size as the SD card that works).

Have you got the SD card and USB connected at the same time and is it confusing the media player? Or try a usb 3 if you are using usb 2. I know my Majority player in my man shed only likes usb 3 sticks

I tried it today with the SD card out but it’s still saying format not supported when I select USB.  I think it is USB 2, but because the car and stereo are 12 years old I’d be surprised if it only supports USB 3 which was fairly new back then.

I might look into updating the firmware on the stereo and see if that works.
