Focus Mk4 (2020) front fog lamp upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just taken delivery of my new (to me) 2020/70 plate Focus estate. It's got the fixed LED headlamps which are great, but I'm not so impressed with the main beam. They don't seem to make much difference over the dipped LEDs so I'm going to fit some Nightbreakers. Whilst I'm at it, I was wondering about uprating the fog lamp bulbs too. There's plenty of info on how to get at the bulbs in the headlight, but nothing I can find about the fogs. Having looked at the fog lamp surround plastics on ebay, am I right in thinking they go behind the bumper? If so, does that mean bumper off to change the bulbs? Or is there access once the headlamp units are out?

So, my questions are:

1. What's the process to get at the front fog bulbs?

2. Is it worth the bother? Especially as the fog bulbs are more expensive that the main beam.

Thanks in advance!

I fitted LED H8 bulbs to my titanium, they worked a treat, just check your polarity before fitting.

The standard, halogen, fog lamps are appalling.

Don't go higher than 55w on your high beam bulbs or your auto high beam will stop working

Thanks Dave, how do you get to the fog bulbs?

I was going to get these https://www.osram.com/ecat/NIGHT BREAKER LASER-HALOGEN headlight lamps-Car lighting-Automotive/com/en/GPS01_3043435/ Which claim 55w output, 68w draw. I'm not too worried about auto high beam as I'm not keen on the feature, it's currently disabled...

The easiest way is to remove the headlamps.

Be very careful with the mounting lugs, they're designed to snap

Thanks, I'll investigate!

Mark the position of the fixing to the lug and the lug to the body so you can get them back in exactly the same place.

Two fixings (TX30) and pull, there's a pin where the bumper meets the wing
