Adding Wireless Charging Pad to 2020 Focus

Featured Replies

Hey all, wondering if anyone has added a wireless charging pad to their 2020 focus, I know it's an extra that some of them have and was wondering if I can get hold of that part and put it in if it will work?

Others on here will tell you not to bother. It's inconsistent at best, loses contact with the phone regularly and you will just get annoyed with the messages popping up - charging active, charging inactive, charging active etc. etc.

Might be better buying a phone holder with wireless charging if plugging a cable in is not preferred?

Yup don’t bother, Sync in my opinion is best with CarPlay/Android Auto so it’s plugged in anyway.

If your phone isn’t sticky enough or doesn’t lay flat like most phones with a camera bump, then it’ll be a poor experience. My iPhone 14 Pro won’t consistently charge and the error that comes up on the Sync screen is annoying.

Also you may not want it to work as it gets boiling hot when wirelessly charging which will reduce your phones lifespan.

Also if using wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay the charging mat (due to inconsistency) puts less charge in the phone than it is using.

Ah I see no worries!

When my phone was plugged in the USB port for CarPlay/AA and using navigation and music it slowly lost charge.

Now I have a Carlinkit 4 Wireless 2 in 1 adaptor plugged into the armrest usb connector, and a dash mount Brodit ProClip Angled Mount/Device Holder/Apple MagSafe Charger (giving up to 15w charging) connected to a 12volt socket. Not cheap, but good.
