Unusual Steering Behaviour (Ford Focus Mk2.5 Titanium)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've had this focus for around about 7-8 months and I've been having chronic alignment issues with it.

I've had an alignment several times including 4 wheel alignment, new suspension arms as well and bought 4 for new goodyears tires for it.

It's now nearly straight and steering is actually quite precise at low speeds, but at motorway speeds I'm constantly correcting the wheel and seems to heavily pull into crown of road (verge)

It's even worse when there's more weight in the car, it seems to pull at any speed at that point.

I've been told I have a slight amount of play in the rear drop links but that shouldn't affect alignment at all really, and have been advise to get tie rods/track rods changed, mainly due to them being difficult to unseize the locknut.

Not sure if It's going to affect alignment but some people have suggested that the steering angle sensor maybe faulty/needs resetting.

But the fact I've needed the alignment done so frequently is clearly pointed to a fault in the suspension, just unsure what and whether its at the front or back.

Any advise/pointers would be appreciated 🙏

if they are a good alignment place you should have a print out of the the before and after changes and the manu set points clearly shown - post that and we'll have half a clue what might be amiss

any sign of accident damage
do the wheels all appear to be pointing in the right direction
ride height all 4 corners normal (broken springs fall off cars everyday in the speed bump infected road near me)
what got replaced - did front main lower arms on hers, they were trashed on the bushes big time
