bantam_dave21
Hiya, trying to help diagnose a friends gear change issue before I go take a look tomorrow and wondered if there was any common issues. the car is a 2014 TDCI. The symptoms are they stalled the car whilst turning into their street like it’s stuck in 3rd or 4th, the stick is only moving forward and back. Apparently doesn’t move side to side….I was thinking initially a snapped cable or a cable has popped off but I expect it would move floppy left and right if that’s the case. Didn’t know if there was any common issues with the turret or similar. Mines a 2010 model and expect is largely the same but wasn’t sure…. many thanks
bantam_dave21
Hiya, so finally got you’ve to look at this gear change. As suspected the forward/back cable had popped off. Although looks like something has come away and now missing. Searched online if the cable end/grommet/collet can be bought separate from the cable/s anyone have any idea? Seems a shame for a low mileage car to replace the cable/s because the end won’t hold on the gear lever of the turret Thanks
HashBrown
Bit late you’ve probably already come up with the part, but just for reference it sounds like your after a gear cable collet 1332491 1

Unfortunately and typically my luck it’s the other cable that you don’t seem to be able to buy the collet…. I grabbed a used cable for £10 thinking I’d find a way to take the rubber insert but the top appears bonded in some way and felt it not worth the risk of trying to cobble something out of nothing
