I have attached a video if you could have a look at it and help me out guys that would be great it's annoying me now. I have changed track rod ends and inner rods both sides got tyres balanced and alignment. Frembrit Posted June 2 Share Posted June 2 I would say check the bottom ball joints. If they are a loose as that sounds then that can give you the shaking. You could try by getting someone to shake the steering whilst you grab hold of the ball joint, or raise the wheel off the ground, grab the wheel at 12 and 6 O'clock positions and wiggle it, if there is movement then chances are that it's the bottom ball joint (you've ruled out the track rod ends already). You might also feel movement/knocking shaking at 3 and 9 o'clock too being that loose. Thank you for taking the time to reply! I'm going to try that tomorrow and see if it's the lower ball joint if not I'm going to say it's steering rack maybe. Jcwutang92 Posted June 6 Author Share Posted June 6 Hey guys I have a update I didn't get a helper to turn the wheel but I got better videos I hope lol Visual inspection and feeling the boot on the lower ball joint it seems fine both sides here's a few videos 📸 Only thing I could find that sounded similar was the driveshaft moving in and out It does that both driver and passenger side. I would still say get a helper to shake the steering so that would allow you to feel different parts to find the movement. I couldn't see the ball joint move in the videos, doesn't mean it's not them though. Did you try shaking the wheel/tyre by hand as described above? Yeah going to get a helper tomorrow and feel the parts and see what the story is. Yes I tried 12-6 no play 3-9 no play l haven't checked the hub but will do that tomorrow I got a breaker bar and put it under the tyre and moved it up and down no play on ball joint. Jcwutang92 Posted June 7 Author Share Posted June 7 Update for you guys Found the knocking it coming from top of steering rack where the steering column connects to the rack. Now my question is can that be adjusted and tighten up? So red arrow is where I felt the knocking and the yellow arrow seems to be the adjustment for the preload just making sure that the can be adjusted and is there a specific too I have to use? Just tighten it up and then back it off slightly until it's not so tight that it's negatively impacting steering.
