FordPass events log

Featured Replies

Not sure if it's called an events log. It's the part of the app which, I understand, keeps a log of events, especially errors, for the past 60 days. Dealers can see the log, but owners can't see it on the app.

I don't use FordPass. Less than 60 days ago I had a very serious incident in my Focus, with what I think was a malfunction of Autobrake. I've described the incident elsewhere on this forum. Basically, sudden massive vibration which was present even after I was stationary, before turning off the car. So bad it sounded like the engine was destroying itself. I'd like to know what caused the malfunction, or at least know if it was due to Autobrake. Autobrake can, apparently, cause noise and vibrations. The car has been fine ever since.

Here's a question: Dealers have said that to log events you have to be using the app at the time of the incident. Makes sense, but just wondered if others here agree. In other words, if I started using the app tomorrow, it's not going to show the dealer the last 60 days of events, is it? One dealer said this is at least partly due to having to agree to data sharing, before Ford will keep a log of events.

Unless you have got ford pass app enabled , the dealer won't see any data. It's gdpr data protection . You basically have to authorise this. I'm led to believe the data only starts once app is on. So not any previous data. Could be wrong. I've never had to check the data on a vehicle. I can see when then are switched on if I bother looking.

Thanks, Ian.

On a separate, but obviously related issue, I've often wondered if the car's data is send direct from the car to Ford, or from the car to the phone then to Ford. I know that sounds a bit thick of me, but not using the app (or apps for anything else) I find it all a bit confusing.

If you have the built in modem, the data is sent direct to Ford. It's just that the Fordpass app is where you can control the data sharing settings for your Ford account and car.
