Replacing Grill on 2016 Focus Ecoboost

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am keen to replace the chrome grille on my Focus as it appears the previous owner had superglued part of it to the main mounting area. The superglue has reacted to the chrome/plastic and this is now bubbling and falling off. I have seen prices from Ford quoting 3 digits for replacements, and have seen them elsewhere for double digits. It detracts from my perfectly clean car.

My concern is if this has been superglued to another part of the car structure to secure it, it may not come off easily, and do not feel qualified to attempt myself. Would it be too cheeky to ask a garage to replace a grille if its not a "Ford" sourced item?

Interested to hear your views. Cheers!

A Ford main dealer won't do it with a used part.

An independent garage may do it.

Though I think you'd be better off asking a paintshop or accident repair centre.  They'll have the most experience with plastic clips on bumpers.  That should mean least risk of damage.

Thanks Tom. That seems the preferrable option for me. I have enough of them around here, so will get the replacement and try my luck.
