Focus Ecoboost 2013 no engine power

Featured Replies

Just got a 1L ford focus last week and its lovely to drive but whenever i wanna drive with a bit more speed lets say or take off faster than your average driver ive noticed that when im in 3rd gear and hit 4000rpm i can feel a change in the engine like its just stopped pushing or stopped receiving petrol i don't know what exactly but just wondering if anybody has any similar encounters. I also noticed on the specs of the car it said it can do 130mph max speed but i cant seem to get it over 80mph it just sits there and if i go to 4th its just revving and then doing the weird feel thing which makes me change the gear in fear of breaking something but then 5th gear has no push? I just sit at 80 and it wont go up no matter how flat my floor is on the gas, in fact sometimes on the motorway it will decrease speed in 5th and 6th gear just from a small incline in the road.

I can't decide if this is a wind up or whether you're serious 🤔

You have a car (plus driver) which weights approximately 1.5 tonne powered by a 1.0 Ecoboom engine and you're expecting the performance of an Aston Martin ?

I expect, although I've not tried myself, if you drive it over a cliff the acceleration will improve for a short time.

Not to mention that the cambelt (unless changed already) is now due for replacement at 10 years so the boom may be imminent.

Ford only claimed 119mph for this model and fairly leisurely acceleration of about 11secs to 62mph/100kph. Doesn't RoI have a limit of 100kph on ordinary roads and 120kph on motorways, anyway?
