Driveshaft play - how big is yours?

Featured Replies

Putting my MK4 back on the road after a few years parked up, going over everything before the big MOT, and I found some play on the driveshafts...

They don't move up and down or side to side, but there's easily 5mm of play when you move them "in and out" (e.g. grab hold of the driveshaft and wiggle it between the wheel and the gearbox).

No knocking or steering issues, boots are all good, no play when you jack it up and rock the wheels etc. None of my other cars have driveshafts that can be moved "in and out" at all, theirs are rock solid.

Is this much driveshaft play normal for a Fiesta?
