Boot space comparison between st line x and active x

Featured Replies

Hi all, wondering if someone can help with out with this question, next month Il be purchasing a  2019/20 focus but I’m in two minds to get either the active x or st line x. Having looked at both, the boot space seems to be different on some specs but then the same on others? Some say they’re both 373 and some say the st line x is 273, Bit confused really.

from what I can gather if you have the b&o sound system or a spare wheel then  you lose 100 litres space. Are they standard on st line x?

If anyone has either of these models could shed some light that would be appreciated.

Thanks

I love this question! In the 70s this is exactly the kind of thing men bought the magazine, 'What Car' for, and a short time ago, executives at the BBC whinged that Top Gear didn't cover on their show. (they misunderstood that Top Gear was an entertainment show, not a show about cars!)

I have no idea the answer, but look forward to contributions...

The boot is the same size on both the hatch and the Active.

You're right in that the difference is caused by having a spare wheel and B&O sub.

The standard specs changed a few times through the years, and they could be added as optional extras, so you will have to check each car individually.

Also bear in mind the smaller boot is easier to access, as there isn't such a large drop down from the tailgate ledge.  Rally depends if you're carrying large, light items or smaller heavy items I guess.

Thanks mate, ye it’s cause we have a little one now so the bigger boot space the better really, the sport line x is far nicer too look at than the active x or the at line but don’t know if I could give up that extra space. Il have to go a dealer and have a look, thanks again mate

You sound like a very considerate Daddy. I'm sure the little one will appreciate being put in a bigger boot 🤣

Both the Active X and ST-Line X are available as estate models which almost doubles the boot space.  They may be worth considering although not as easy to find used as hatch models.
