Ford can’t fix TPMS fault

Featured Replies

My 64 plate focus Titanium has had an intermittent TPMS fault for 6 months. Ford have replaced the BCM and all 4 wheel sensors. It doesn’t happen every journey but it happens every morning my wife drives to work, same place around 2 miles from home. It doesn’t happen on her drive home. I drove it at 11pm yesterday and it faulted after a couple of miles.

I was using an app to track the tyre pressures, the OBD volts and the ECU volts. I noticed that it is reading the tyre pressures all of the time, it only reads them occasionally and when it is the OBD voltage drops to 0v.

the car also records a fault with the steering wheel module. Ford say that’s the clock spring and not related but it is why the cruise control doesn’t work.

see attached app screen shot

1. Any ideas?

2. Is the TPMS receiver part of the BCM or plugged in to it?

thanks

Ford can’t fix TPMS fault 🤔

I think you mean the Ford franchised dealership can't fix the TPMS. Which probably means you need to use a different dealer. Or your going to have to break out the multimeter and start looking for a poor connection.

You could probably do with getting FORScan and running some live data on the wheel sensors etc to see what's happening.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've seen a few of these and on the Mk3/3.5 >2019 Focus I've found loose connectors to the BCM and on 2 opened up the BCM and found dry joints specifically on the soldering to the aerial which receives the signal from the wheels tx's. Quite and easy fix once you know where to look, next time I get one I'll do some pix.
