I'm SURE I have been ripped off!

Featured Replies

'Sure' antiperspirant has been my product of choice for half a century. In recent months the price has sky rocketed! You use to get a frequent offer of 2 for £3, making it £1.50 each. It then went up to over £3 for a single can.

Last week I was in a store where I saw it for £1.99, without thinking I bought a few, and was so angry at myself on getting home, storing them with my existing stock.

The can size has been reduced by 20% (edit!) from 250ml to a measly 200ml. So in reality, that's a price rise of 66%. Now, where's this 10% inflation tie in??

Yes, I know it's trivial, but I just hate big companies ripping off us consumers. I'm afraid 'Sure' is now on my ever increasing banned list 🤣

But it lasts for 48 hours.  So you only have to use half as much as a normal one!

Now interestingly ASDA are still advertising the 250ml cans for £2.00 of course you can bet they will be out of stock !!

It "Sure" does look like you've been ripped off 🙁

Same applies to several branded shower gels 250ml down to 225ml eg lynx, raddox etc etc

Just checked my own deodorant, which happens to be Sure this time (I just get whatever's on offer!) and that apparently lasts for 72 hours!  Looks like I can save a lot of water only having a wash twice a week!

Happening to most products, my missus buys 3 for the price of 2, her usual shampoo has always been in 300ml bottles, the 3 for 2 is now in 200ml bottles, she didn't notice until putting them in the bathroom...........WE ARE BEING RIPPED OFF LEFT RIGHT & CENTRE AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

I think we should let our feelings be known in a public forum, maybe even on the internet - oh, wait a minute... 😂

It's not trivial at all and it's about time we the customers stood up against massive companies, what gets me is Heinz said they've had to increase their tomato sauce & beans due to veg' prices going up....Yet they can still keep banging the adverts on TV, such adverts cost anything from £300+ to £4,000+ per advert, depending when and how long the advert is to be and time slot.....Sod Heinz and sod all other major manufacturers.

Try other brands from Lidl or Aldi, many are literally exact copies.

I email major manufacturers and give them a right ear bashing about ripping off the customer, some reply, some don't, I cursed Hovis about the price of their bread, I got a real paper letter from them with a £20 voucher included!!!

Many also made in the same factory! I know the Ormo bread factory in Belfast also made M&S branded loaves!

But not always the same ingredients. I used to live next door to a sparky at Roberts bakery. He said he wouldn't touch the supermarket brands they made - different flours, different oils.

I'm not that fussy, I go purely on price! LOL My taste buds are very flexible!

Might want to check the scent before buying a cheaper one.

If you were a Submariner, you would not have to worry about the price of soap, let alone anti-perspirant (whatever that is !).

250ml down to 200ml is surely a 20% reduction.  Store still taking the piddle, though.

250ml for £1.50 versus 200ml for £1.99 is a 66% increase in price per ml.

(199 / 200) / (150 / 250) = 1.658

new cost per ml /  old cost per ml = 66% increase

Well, I got that bit right LOL

Honestly, I'd rather they just increase the price than do these underhanded practices.

I bought a new deodorant stick today. The instructions said remove the wrapper and push up bottom

I can hardly walk but when I ***** the room smells lovely! 😂😂😂

Remember to rinse, and repeat 🤣

Just to round thread off, this morning whilst in Lidl, my 'app' offered a 20% discount on the £1.25 Cien antiperspirant 250ml size, so that worked out at £1/can! Oh, and Tom, the flavours I got are just lovely LOL

Just noticed another shrinkflation.  Lurpak has dropped from 500g to 400g this week.  (£3.25 to £2.75 Clubcard price).

Lurpak Slightly Salted Spreadable Blend of Butter and Rapeseed Oil 400g - Tesco Groceries

I'm kinda partial to Lurpak, though stopped buying it when my local CoOp some months ago was selling a 500g tub for £7.25! Can't help thinking that much of this price increase is simple old fashioned price gauging, rather than food source inflation.
