Ford Focus ST MK2 Engine ticking

Featured Replies

Hey, I recently bought a 2010 ST225 with 77k miles/125k km and I have been worried about this sound.

It happens on cold and warm engine. Increasing and decreasing with RPM's. Oil level is good.

I've tried to read about some similiar cases and only thing I came across was Hydraulic Lifter Tick, is this that or something more extreme or just a normal sound on these engines?

Here is a clip of the sound:

Thanks :)

Pretty sure mine is a bit ticky too, will see if I can grab some video to compare bearing in mind yours may be more noticeable due to running standard air box compared to noisy induction kit etc on mine

Pretty similar to mine I’d say

Yeah sound about the same, thanks for your reply. Maybe I have nothing to be worried about.

You own a Ford, you'll always have something to worry about 😂
