Mk6 Fiesta - Front Passenger Door Lock

Featured Replies

2008 Fiesta Mk6 1.4 Petrol. 5 door.

Dreaded door ajar light on and off. Doors locking and unlocking whilst driving. Doors not locking. Slamming door sometimes helps. Clear fault with lock/switch.

Picked up a used lock from a 3 door. Fitted new lock (some changing over and fettling required.). And it has solved the door ajar issue which is great.

However, the passenger door will now not unlock with the key fob. I’ve tried reprogramming from driver door only to all doors. And pulled neg lead and reset computer. But problem still there.

Door locks fine with key fob. And can be opened and closed with both external and internal handles. It also locks and unlocks from the inside manually.

The car is a 5 door. And the donor car for the lock was a 3 door. Could that cause an issue? Seemed like the same part. Same number of pins (I think). I’m sure as ***** not taking the door back apart to check now.

Nothing in the wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual about 3/5 door differences in wiring.

Lol. That explains that then.

Ah well. At least the door ajar fault is solved. Having to unlock the passenger door from the inside is not the end of the world.
